The Bonus Room

When we built this house, one of the things the design had to have was a gargantuan garage. I'm not kidding, it's huge. Our garage holds 4 Suburban size vehicles (2 deep, not 4 wide). Because of the enormous garage, we also got a nice bit of space above the garage that we left unfinished when we built the house. We have always called this the bonus room. We didn't need the space when we built the house and we decided we'd wait and see what we needed it for down the line. After Eloise was born we started talking about finishing it and decided to make part of it a girls dormitory and put all 3 girls in the same bedroom, and use the other part for a large family room. It felt like it took a long time to finish, with a lot of stops and starts, but it is finally done. For now the family room is just an extra large playroom for the girls until we can afford to get a new couch and TV. Both rooms were quickly trashed by toys and other crap soon after these pictures were taken. The history of the bonus room in pictures.
