This past Saturday we loaded the family in the car (even the dog!) and spent the day at the beach. Most of the time going to the beach means several layers, winter coats, hats and mittens. Saturday turned out to be probably the most gorgeous day I've ever experienced on the Oregon coast. Sunny, the perfect temperature and an occasional light breeze. We went with a group of great friends and had a blast. All the kids played, we barbecued on the beach for lunch, we remembered to sunscreen the kids but the adults got fried. All in all one of those great trips you're so glad you took. Maggie and Lily were up to their armpits, literally, in the sand. They played all day digging holes and hunting for treasures, with maybe a ten minute break for lunch. By the end of the day I think they had more sand on and in (yes I said in) them then was left on the beach. Eloise on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with it. As soon as we set her down in the sand she started to cry about having something in her shoe (the sand) and that was the end of that. If you tried to set her down, she would pull her legs up. If you sat her down anyway, she would sit there and cry "ick". She spent the whole day, over 6 hours, either on a blanket or in a little camp chair. We've decided that if we ever want her to stay in one place and not have to worry about her running off, all we need to do is buy a sand box!

Indeed it was a blessed day.
We're planning to take our kids again in July. We'll be sure to let it be made known beforehand...
